Degrees and Certifications:

Mrs. Mindee Birnstiehl

Hello!  My name is Mrs. Mindee Birnstiehl.  I grew up in Battle Creek, Iowa; a small town with a population of 800 people, sixty minutes east of Sioux City.  I earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration after high school at the University of South Dakota.  Later in life, I followed my true passion (music) and graduated with my Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Education from Augustana in Sioux Falls.  In 2013, I earned my Masters in Music Education at USD.  I have taught every area of music in the past:  band, elementary and general music, and junior high and high school chorus.  Some highlights of my career have been winning the Mayor's Award at the Parade of Lights in Sioux Falls with my Tripp-Delmont High School Band, bringing the Dallas Brass professional ensemble to Tripp, SD, to work with JH and HS band students and performing a concert in our HS gym, and being recommended to sing in Carnegie Hall in New York City with my Freeman HS Mixed Chorus in June 2019.  I am very excited to now be part of the Parker Pheasants Team and to build this PHS Band Program!!  I live in Freeman with my husband, Ken.  We are now "empty-nesters."  Altogether we have 8 children and 5 grandchildren!
